Expectations: The Minden Soaring Club is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and collaborative environment for all members, volunteers, employees, and guests. This Code of Conduct establishes the behavioral expectations required to ensure that Club activities are conducted with professionalism, kindness, and mutual respect. It applies to all individuals participating in Club operations, including flight activities, meetings, events, and any communication related to Club business.
Soaring is inherently a team activity. Every safe and successful flight depends on cooperation among tow pilots, wing runners, line crew, instructors, and fellow pilots. Members must recognize that clear communication, patience, and mutual support are essential components of safe glider operations. The Club expects all participants to uphold these principles at all times.
All individuals associated with the Club are expected to treat one another with courtesy and respect. Verbal abuse, including yelling, insults, harassment, or intimidation, is strictly prohibited. Physical abuse, threats, unsafe actions, or any behavior that endangers others is likewise prohibited. Disrespectful communication of any kind undermines the Club’s culture and will not be tolerated. Members are expected to assume good intent, communicate constructively, and contribute to a positive environment.
Expressing Concerns: The Club is operated primarily by volunteers who devote their time and effort to maintaining facilities, running operations, and supporting members. All members are expected to recognize and respect these contributions. No club is perfect. The Club welcomes dissent and differing viewpoints, and any Board member is available to receive concerns. However, dissent will only be considered when it is constructive. Members raising an issue must first identify the specific problem and then propose a solution. Complaining without contributing does not advance the Club’s mission. Members who are dissatisfied with a process or practice are encouraged to volunteer and help improve it.
Violations: Any member, volunteer, employee, or guest may report a violation of this Code of Conduct. Reports may be submitted verbally or in writing to any member of the Board of Directors. Upon notification of a violation, the Board will issue a one time written warning to the member involved. If a second violation occurs, the member’s Club membership will be suspended for up to two months. If a third violation occurs, the member’s Club membership may be terminated. A terminated member may file a one-time appeal within sixty days of receiving notice of termination. The Board will review the appeal and issue a decision within sixty days upon receipt. The Board’s decision on the appeal is final.
