MSC Youth Aviation Internship — Participation Agreement
I am applying to join MSC’s Youth Aviation Internship, open to ages 13–25. Participation is voluntary. I agree to maintain active MSC and Soaring Society of America memberships, complete required wing-runner training and airport procedures certification, and follow club safety rules and staff instructions. I will undertake only duties for which I have been trained and authorized, use equipment only with permission, and ask for help whenever unsure.
I understand that aircraft, moving vehicles, tow ropes, and launch operations involve risks. I will remain alert, treat others respectfully, care for club equipment, and report unsafe conditions. Unsafe conduct or repeated failure to follow program requirements may result in suspension or removal. I may appeal a program disciplinary decision to the Board or Youth Program Coordinator.
Every five hours of recorded flight-line internship participation earns one credit covering one tow, regardless of tow or flight length. Youth members receive free instruction and club glider use. I may purchase additional tows or use scholarship funds. The five-hour benefit continues until my 26th birthday, including after private certification. Tow credits are personal, non-transferable, and not redeemable for cash.
I will check in with the office to record my participation hours accurately and coordinate flight scheduling. A scholarship requires a separate application and selection; applicants must first complete 50 hours of internship participation. Current scholarship awards are $1,500 toward solo, with eligibility to apply for another $1,000 after passing the FAA Private Glider written exam. The Board reserves the right to change these award amounts. Scholarship recipients may receive reimbursement of their Private Glider written-exam fee and practical-test fee, up to $600 each.
Submitting this application does not authorize flight-line duties. If I am under 18, my parent or guardian must also sign the office’s printed copy before I begin flight-line internship activities. Staff will confirm required training and authorization before assigning duties.
