Job Postings

The Minden Soaring Club Inc. is seeking one or more candidates for each position listed. Minden-Tahoe Airport (KMEV) is one of the best soaring sites in the world. We operate an active soaring club year-round, but it is especially active for the heavy soaring season, May through October. Club members currently fill these roles and will continue to do so. But hired employees or contractors will be used to provide base support during the peak season and to help us increase our volumes.
We are looking for potential people that could work:
- Full-time (40 hours per week)
- Seasonal Full-Time (40 hours per week) during the majority of the soaring season
- Part-Time (less than 40 hours per week but on a regular schedule) Year-Round or Seasonal
- Part-Time On-Call (available on call with x hours’ notice) Year-Round or Seasonal
As can be seen, we can be a flexible employer. For the right person, we will work to solve local housing issues. The pay is negotiable within our pay scales.
The current positions open are:
- Tow Pilot(s) – Commercial rated pilots with Airplane Single-Engine Land (ASEL) ratings and a tailwheel endorsement. We currently use Pawnees as our towplane (we have four). Experience as a tow pilot will be valuable.
- Glider CFI(s) – We have a growing backlog of students. We also provide many glider rides to the general public over Lake Tahoe. Our multi-place aircraft for training and rides currently are a remanufactured Blanik L-13, a Duo Discus, and an SGS 2-32. We are expanding our fleet and are searching for other aircraft. We also have deposits and orders for an ASK-21B and Arcus-M.
- Flight Line Personnel – Ground ops crew help move the planes from the hangars and tie-down areas to the glider staging area. The ground crew positions the sailplane, assists pilots with final cockpit prep, hooks up the towlines, runs the wings, and stores the ground handling equipment. Many times, volunteers and youth members help, but trained ground crew personnel are valuable.
- Aircraft A&P Mechanic – Currently, club volunteers provide ongoing maintenance, and we have a nearby service that can help with critical maintenance functions. As the club grows, we may need our own paid staff to assist with 100-hour inspections and routine maintenance.
